Losing the plot

Day 1:  write – without consulting the book – a poem that recounts the plot, or some portion of the plot, of a novel that you remember having liked but that you haven’t read in a long time.

Oh yes! I know a book you'd like,
Read it for book group about two, three years ago.
It's set in the Appalachians, in the late 1800s,
Or was it the early 1900s?
Anyway, before they had cars
And had to get around on horses.
It's about these women,  one in particular,
Who work in a sort of mobile library -
Taking books to people who live in remote areas,
Travelling on horseback through forests,
Over rivers and such like,
Having adventures on their journeys.
Of course there's a lot more to it than that,
Social commentary, strong women, history -
And  I think there was a twist on the love interest,
Some sort of threat, or attack, or something,
My memory! I read so many, can't remember them all,
But it's really good.  You'd love it.
Now, what was it called? Something about stars?
It's by that author that wrote that other one...
That was made into a film...
I'll look it up and get back to you!
