Garden

 Garden

Day 3: make a list of up to 10 things you can see, then, using a rhyming dictionary generate similar sounding words.  Use this word bank to create a poem full of repeating, echoing sounds.

The garden,  abandoned for weeks,
Shouts its accusation. Weeds burgeon,
Bracken creeps on hardened soil.

On the deck we crane our necks, inspect
The work ahead.  Check which section
Is most wrecked,  which needs our first attention.

Wild flowers have bloomed across the acres,
April showers empowering their growth,
Drawing in both human and insect admirers.

Each bed is full of last year's dead heads,
Crying out to be removed.  They stand proud instead
Purple, yellow, red, butting up against the shed.

We rest on chairs and air our views:
You are aware of much in need of repair -
I glare and insist it's only fair we share the work.

We agree, as usual, and take a while to sit and breathe
Watching the bees who appreciate the wild freedom
Of the garden. The year's debris can wait another day.
