Crows in the road
Crows in the road
I drove into Bristol today, despite weather warnings of high winds and heavy rain. What caught my eye amongst the debris brought down by the storm were cheeky crows, exploring what could be found to eat. As my car approached they seemed to be playing chicken, lifting off at the last moment, capturing my imagination and prompting this.
Underneath seething trees
There are crows in the road
Beaks probing bare branches
Thrown down by storm Ciara.
Thrown high, flying sideways,
There are crows in the sky
Swirling like paper smuts
Above a bonfire's heat.
